I'm envisioning this as a micro-blog of sorts, where I can write without having to abide by the somewhat limiting nature of social media or be tied down to a specific niche. Instead, it's simply a place to express myself.
Having been laid off last Monday, I also wanted a platform where I could easily share updates. Whether that means the projects I'm working on, what I think about the state of the industry, potential opportunities, and what motivates me to maintain any semblance of drive throughout this experience, it seemed essential to find a space where I could not only document my journey but also engage with a like-minded community. It's no easy thing, being laid off, but I consider myself lucky to have had such tremendous support from within my network of friends, colleagues, and new connections, even within this relatively short amount of time.
For all the hate that I give LinkedIn and the type of clickbait content it seems to promote, the engagement you can sometimes get is truly something. That one singular post has already garnered me a fair bit of attention and I'm really excited about some of the doors that it has opened while remaining optimistic about what's on the other side.
Without getting too into the weeds here, (remember: micro-blog) I wanted to just take the time to thank those that have already extended their hand. It's always nice to feel supported, even more-so when it comes from the unlikeliest of places.
